ROAD Court is a Missoula County DUI treatment and accountability court program. ROAD Court stands for Responsibility, Opportunities, and Accountability for Drivers. Instead of relying solely on traditional court processes, ROAD Court takes a different approach, one that take s holistic approach that focuses on accountability, treatment, and long term behavior change.
I recognized the need after becoming Justice of the Peace and developed the program to address it. Today, I work alongside a dedicated team of professionals from the legal system, law enforcement, and the treatment and research community. Together, we support participants, hold them accountable for their actions, and strengthen public safety by reducing recidivism and promoting long term recovery.
ROAD Court was developed for people who have been convicted of a alcohol or drug related driving offenses. The goal is not just to address the immediate case, but to help participants build healthier habits and reduce the likelihood of future offenses.
Evidence-based research supports this approach. According to the National Center for DWI Courts, treatment courts can reduce repeat offenses by as much as 60 percent. Participants in these programs are also significantly less likely to reoffend compared to those who go through traditional court processes.
